Chromatic Bolt presents an exceptionally rare twelve‑branched snowflake featuring a vivid display of thin film interference colours at its center. It was photographed in Oulu at –5 °C (41 °F) on 21st Feb 2026 and stacked from 67 raw images, revealing lightning‑like streaks of iridescence — a natural phenomenon caused by microscopic variations in ice thickness. These subtle colour flashes, combined with the uncommon twelve‑fold symmetry, make this snowflake one of the most distinctive pieces in the collection.
